On August 15, 2026, the Embassy of India in Malabo celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India at the chancery premises with immense patriotism and solemn pride.
- 2. The event commenced with the singing of Vande Mataram, the national song of India, and followed by the hoisting of the National Flag by Ambassador Prashant Kumar Das and singing of the National Anthem. The Ambassador read out the address to the nation by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. The celebration included a wonderful cultural programme filled with patriotic songs. Aligning with the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign, Embassy officials and the Indian diaspora proudly displayed and waved the national flag to show their love for the country and to affirm the patriotism and unity.
- 3. In the run-up to the 80th Independence Day celebrations, the Embassy organized a variety of events and competitions. These included the 'Bharat Ko Janiye' Quiz, a Painting Competition themed 'Viksit Bharat', a Photography Competition themed 'India Through My Lens', and a hands-on Madhubani Painting workshop. The Ambassador felicitated the winners of the competitions and participants of Madhubani Painting workshop with certificates and prizes. Additionally, the winning paintings and artwork were also put on display. A Har Ghar Tiranga Exhibition was also organized on the occasion.
- 4. The celebration saw the enthusiastic participation of over 100 attendees, including members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India.
