The Embassy headed by Ambassador functions within the purview of business allocated to the Ministry of External Affairs under the Government of India's Allocation of Business Rules and Transaction of Business Rules.

General Administrative powers are derived from IFS (PLCA) Rules, as amended from time to time. Financial powers of the Officers of the Embassy of India have been prescribed in the Delegated Financial powers of the Government of India's Representatives Abroad. Other powers are derived from the Passport Act of India. The Officers of the Embassy function under the guidance and supervision of the Ambassador.

The Embassy of India functions within the norms of India's foreign policy formulated by the Ministry of External Affairs. Policy is implemented by the Embassy under the guidance and supervision of the Ambassador.

The Embassy's website has the required information. The Embassy also makes available to interested individuals/firms various pamphlets, CD's and DVD's containing information on India, its people and culture, trade, tourism as and when requested.

Information for the general public and diaspora is disseminated through Mission’s website, twitter, Instagram, facebook, e-mail and through consular meetings. Although it is a newly opened Mission, a library and reading room has been set up. The library is open during Embassy working hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (Monday to Friday except approved holidays) and the list of holidays to be observed in the Calendar Year 2025 is available in the website www[dot]eoimalabo[dot]gov[dot]in.
